Mount Rinjani Experience
Rinjani is a Mountain that is an active volcano that is located in Lombok, Indonesia. This mountain is visited by tons of people yearly. This is a mountain that I have yet to visit, but its real good after listening to my buddies that have already experienced it.
Full gear needs to be prepared for Rinjani, please be very prepared for Rinjani if not you might get injured. It’s quite cold there so prepare wind breakers and fleece just in case. It’s always better to over prepare then under prepare. If you are worried about the weight, I would recommend a potter to be hired. You will be able to enjoy the view more instead of straining yourself and you will be able to give a job to the potter. Sharing is caring.
When my friends were there, the very famous crater in Rinjani called the Segera Anak exploded TWICE! Although it sounds scary now but it is one of those experiences that shouldn’t be missed. My friends scattered from the tent to see what was going on, in the distance they are able to see the crater spewing ashes. This kind of love hate experience should be tried.

On the way up there is also a waterfall that looks very magnificent (refer to picture). The water here is ice cold and a very good pit stop for the hike. After walking very long hours on a full load, it is always good to take a break. For the people that are wondering the how heavy a full load is, it is around 10kg to 20kg. Imagine the strain on your body when you are walking like that for about 6-8 hours.
Even though with so many challenges, the weight you have to carry, the cold that you have to endure, it really is very rewarding to reach the top. The view there is said to die for. I have met numerous people that went up there and are very willing to go through the challenges again to revisit the excellent scenery.
The whole of Rinjani park is around 41,330 hectars. In 2008 Mount Rinjani was given the title official geoparks and this title was approved by UNESCO. Mount Rinjani has attained numerous awards, the awards are World Legacy Award from Conservation International and Traveller (2004), and was a finalist for Tourism for Tomorrow Awards (2005 and 2008) from the World Travel Tourism Council (WTTC).
Mount Rinjani is protected by the Mount Rinjani National Park that was established in 1997. Mount Rinjani a place that must be visited once during your lifetime. If you think you are not fit enough, you will just need to put on your hiking shoes and start with mild hikes around your area. Remember you don’t need to do one big hike to do Mount Rinjani, you will be able to do it one step at a time by visiting many small mountains until you are conditioned for the main event! Practice on people!
